December is a time of celebration for many cultures throughout the world. In Buddhism, we celebrate Buddha’s Enlightenment on Bodhi Day which is December 8. This year Bodhi Day is on a Sunday and the Cincinnati Zen Center will honor it by having extended practice, 6:15-7:30 am followed by regular practice at 8:00 am.
A day of silence and stillness online with the worldwide Furnace Mountain Sangha. The day is organized into four 2-hour practice blocks starting at 6 am and ending at 8 pm. A different teacher offers a Dharma Talk in each of the four sessions. Donations gratefully accepted. Preregistration required.
BEGINNER’S TUESDAYS
On the final Tuesday of most months at 6:30 pm (see our Events calendar for exceptions) we will offer a session that mirrors our standard practice, except with meditation periods shortened to 15-minutes, additional orientation and instruction, and time allocated for questions and discussion.
These sessions can be a good place to start if you don’t feel ready for sitting 30-minute periods, or if you want to talk with experienced meditators about their practice.
