This summer, WordPlay is collaborating with Friends for Good to host a weekly event for youth, ages 12-18. Do you know about this amazing organization? It was founded in 2012 to give young people a safe, inclusive, and inspiring place to come together, uncover and share personal narratives, and determine how their creativity and voices contribute to a more just and equitable community.

How amazing does that sound? And how similar to what we do at Friends for Good! Rather than be in competition with our friends at WordPlay, we’re joining forces to provide a unique experience for teens and tweens every Thursday from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m., starting June 12th. It’s called “Curiocrafters,” and our young friends will be able to express themselves through a number of creative means. It will be a place for color, crafts, and fun! A newly donated PlayStation 5 will be on-site too for the gamers.

CURIOCRAFTERS

Every Thursday beginning June 12th

Ages 12-18

This year’s theme, “For Earth, For Each Other, For Tomorrow,” is about fostering hope and inspiring action for a better future. Once you join our team, please select actions that resonate with your values, committing to them for 30 days to foster and reinforce positive habits. Each action you complete earns points and generates real-world impact in creating a more sustainable and equitable world – one where people and nature thrive together.

REGISTER HERE

You may choose as little as just one action, or any number of actions you can handle (we suggest you keep your total actions to five or less for simplicity and easy management).

The Six Main Action Categories offered in this EcoChallenge are:

1. Land, Water, and Air

2. Wildlife

3. Community and Connection

4. Empowering the Next Generation

5. Health and Well-Being

6. Sustainable Innovation

We must always remember that our Strength is in our Numbers! The solution to our planet’s biggest challenges lies in the power of our collective action. By taking action in our own lives and inspiring the people around us, each of us makes an impact!

Please invite your friends and family to join our EcoChallenge Faith Communities Go Green Team 2025, Need help? Contact Bakhtavar (Becca) Desai, Leader, Education/Lifestyles Working Group, at bfdesai@aol.com mentioning Earth Month 2025 EcoChallenge in the subject line.

I think it is always the right time to do interfaith work. That doesn’t mean our tactics stay the same. They don’t. Right now, with tensions so high, it is time to double down on what we always do at our annual Interfaith Camp which is to focus on games, food, and fun! Yes, we learn about different religions at camp. However, we do not focus on our differences. We also don’t present the world’s problems to our kids and ask them to solve them. Instead, the interfaith work we do at camp is relational. We play games and have fun. We share food together. We explore how to be better listeners and build up empathy through getting to know each other.

One main goal of camp happens every year on Friday afternoon when students exchange phone numbers and make plans to stay in touch. That’s what we want to do with camp: build friendships.

If you are in middle school or high school, will you consider attending camp? If you are a parent of a 6th-12th grade student or know such a student, will you pass along this invitation? We would love to have anyone interested in being at camp! Full scholarships available with no forms to fill out:) Learn more and apply today at www.friendsforgoodcincy.org
