Speakers will provide an introduction to the basic beliefs, rituals, and practices of their faith tradition, followed by a moderated Q&A. This series aims to create a safe space to dispel misinformation and stereotypes about faith traditions which often lead to xenophobia and violence.
About the speaker:
Originally from Sri Lanka, Aruni Marapane came to the USA 31 years ago. Her graduate studies are in Gerontological studies, where she specialized in long term care administration. She is a Buddhist Chaplain and provides spiritual and pastoral care for hospice patients, long term care patients and in hospital settings. She has maintained a dynamic, committed, well disciplined and in depth vipassana and concentration (Samatha) meditation practice for the last 20 years. Her teachers are from the USA, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burma and Vietnam. She also teaches Vipassana mediation.
