Nonviolent practice calls us to not only name institutions of violence, but to also do something about it. As practitioners of strategic nonviolence, we recognize the power we hold when people come together to organize under shared values. That is why Ignite Peace is in collaboration with the Ohio Families Unite Against Police Brutality (OFUABP), an organization guided by the policy demands of people who have lost someone to police violence. These policy demands include implicit bias and de-escalation training for police officers and reducing deadly use of force. Together, we can reshape bad policies and practices in a way that empowers all of us to create safety and peace in our lives, families, and communities. We know a better future is possible, and by walking together, we can demand that our elected leaders make this a place where all of our rights and our lives are respected.

OFUAPB is convening a protest for O22 Day National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality to commemorate the lives lost to police violence. The gathering will take place on Sunday, October 22nd at the Columbus Statehouse starting at 2pm.

Sunday, October 22
