Each survivor has partnered with professional artists to share their stories of trauma and resilience through their chosen art form. DESCRIPTION:Fr. Michael Depcik\, OSFS\, is among fewer than a handful of culturally Deaf priests worldwide. Fr. MD\, as he is known\, was ordained a priest in 2000 in the congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. He currently ministers to Deaf Catholics in the Archdiocese of Detroit\, and is a graduate of St. Rita School for the Deaf in our very own Archdiocese.  We are fortunate to welcome Fr. MD to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in September as he offers Mass and Reconciliation in ASL for the Deaf community.  He will be at St. Michael Parish in Sharonville on Saturday\, September 11 offering Reconciliation from 1:30pm – 2:30pm with Mass at 3:00pm\, and will then offer a Mass at 6:30pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Centerville with Reconciliation to follow.  Fr. Mike will return to the northern part of our Archdiocese on Saturday\, September 25 to Immaculate Conception Church in Bradford to offer Reconciliation from 1:30pm – 2:30pm and Mass at 3:00pm in that region.  While these liturgies are being offered predominately for the Deaf Community\, hearing people are also welcome to attend the Mass.  There will be an interpreter available for the hearing at these liturgies.  All are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:The Holocaust Speaker Series\, held each Wednesday at 11:00 am\, features Holocaust survivors and descendants of survivors sharing stories of life before\, during\, and after the Holocaust. Join us on Wednesday\, September 22 at 11:00 am via Zoom with Matt Yosafat. \nMatt Yosafat was born in Katerini\, Greece\, in 1936. In 1942\, he went into hiding with the Nazi occupation of Greece. The Yosafats hid in places including a cave and tobacco shelter\, rarely safe and often separated. Ultimately\, the Yosafat family reunited in Katerini and were liberated\, but the outbreak of a civil war led the family to emigrate to the United States in 1951. In 1955\, Matt met his wife\, Anneliese — who had arrived in the United States with her family shortly after the war — and they were soon married in 1959.

SUMMARY:International Day of Peace
DESCRIPTION:The International Day of Peace (September 21) was established by the United Nations in 1981 as a globally-shared day for humanity to rise above our differences to build a Culture of Peace.  The UN General Assembly has called for observing peace on this day through 24-hours of non-violence and ceasefire.  This year’s theme is “Recovering Better for a Sustainable and Equitable World.”  It is a day to commemorate and strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among nations. \nAs we celebrate International Day of Peace throughout the world\, “May we live that every day.  That is the call\,” said Dot Maver.  This day is filled with actions for peace.  See more at International Day of Peace with Dot Maver.  It is in community that we build conditions of peace so that we may live with freedom and safety and joy as a special wisdom on this planet we all call home\, she said. \n“In line with the Secretary-General’s appeal for a global ceasefire last March\, in February 2021 the Security Council unanimously passed a resolution calling for Member States to support a ‘sustained humanitarian pause’ to local conflicts. The global ceasefire must continue to be honoured\, to ensure people caught in conflict have access to lifesaving vaccinations and treatments.” – See more about the International Day of Peace \nThe global COVID pandemic has highlighted that we are one interconnected\, interdependent world.  And that we must make peace with nature and with each other. \n“The pandemic has been accompanied by a surge in stigma\, discrimination\, and hatred\, which only cost more lives instead of saving them: the virus attacks all without caring about where we are from or what we believe in. MD\, as he is known\, was ordained a priest in 2000 in the congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. He currently ministers to Deaf Catholics in the Archdiocese of Detroit\, and is a graduate of St. Rita School for the Deaf in our very own Archdiocese.  We are fortunate to welcome Fr. MD to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in September as he offers Mass and Reconciliation in ASL for the Deaf community.  He will be at St. Michael Parish in Sharonville on Saturday\, September 11 offering Reconciliation from 1:30pm – 2:30pm with Mass at 3:00pm\, and will then offer a Mass at 6:30pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Centerville with Reconciliation to follow.  Fr. Mike will return to the northern part of our Archdiocese on Saturday\, September 25 to Immaculate Conception Church in Bradford to offer Reconciliation from 1:30pm – 2:30pm and Mass at 3:00pm in that region.  While these liturgies are being offered predominately for the Deaf Community\, hearing people are also welcome to attend the Mass.  There will be an interpreter available for the hearing at these liturgies.  All are welcome!
