According to the conventional modern scientific worldview\, reality consists of a physical universe composed of energy and matter behaving according to objective physical laws. In contrast\, the mystics from the world’s major religious traditions teach that reality is ultimately nondual\, i.e.\, that all distinctions are imaginary\, including the distinction between subject and object\, consciousness and universe. Thus\, nonduality would appear to undermine the existence of an objective physical world\, independent of consciousness. Where does this leave science\, and the objective world? Is it possible to reconcile science and nonduality? Join us for an exploration of this question and a possible resolution to this apparent conflict. \nTom McFarlane is a teacher and board member at the Center for Sacred Sciences\, a non-profit spiritual organization whose mission is to support spiritual practitioners following the teachings of the mystics of the world’s major religious traditions and to help foster the creation of a new worldview in which spiritual and scientific truths can be seen as complementary views of the same underlying reality. \nTom has a BS in physics from Stanford University\, an MS in mathematics from the University of Washington\, and an MA in philosophy and religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies. He is also the author of Einstein and Buddha: The Parallel Sayings (Ulysses Press\, 2000)\, a collection of parallel quotes from mystics and physicists.

In addition\, this program regularly sponsors several off-site workshops and discussions at schools\, colleges\, professional organizations\, corporations\, nonprofits\, and special events. Open House tours of the Islamic Center are available on the first Saturday of the month. Customized tours are offered on other days by appointment and according to the particular needs of the visiting individuals or groups. DESCRIPTION:How does the practice of yoga poses evolve from physical exercise to spiritual experience? Join our panel of teachers from a variety of yoga traditions as they share with us the deep and rich teachings that allow ordinary practitioners to have meaningful and often life-changing experiences through yoga. \nABOUT THE PANELISTS: \nRamdas Ormond has engaged in some form of meditation for 44 years and yoga for 20. His guru\, Yogi Amrit Desai\, recognized him as a Senior Teacher of the Lineage in October 2017. Ramdas shares what he has received through the Amrit Yoga Institute in Florida\, Bhakti House in Utah and around the world both in person and online. \nShyam and Mohini are the co-directors of the Yoga Warehouse\, an award-winning Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Fort Lauderdale which they founded in 1998 so they could dedicate themselves to studying and teaching the full range of Yogic practices. As instructors in the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Courses and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Courses\, they have helped to train and certify hundreds of teachers in Classical Hatha Yoga. \nRamesh Bjonnes is the Director of the Prama Wellness Center where a lifestyle of plant-based food\, yoga\, and meditation is considered our best preventive medicine. Ramesh is also a writer\, yogi and workshop leader. He studied yoga therapy in Nepal and India\, Ayurveda at California College of Ayurveda and is a certified yoga detox therapist from the AM Wellness Center in Cebu\, Philippines. He is on the faculty of Embodied Philosophy\, has taught workshops in many countries\, and is the author of five books\, including A Brief History of Yoga (InnerWorld)\, Sacred Body\, Sacred Spirit (InnerWorld) and Tantra: The Yoga of Love and Awakening (Hay House India).
