DESCRIPTION:The Archdiocesan Immigration Task Force has developed a new initiative\, an effort to peacefully and prayerfully stand in solidarity with our immigrant and refugee sisters and brothers. \nWe are encouraging people to go and pray – either outside of the Butler County Jail (where ICE detainees are being held) or the ICE office in Blue Ash. \nYou can find all of the information on this webpage – Praying in Solidarity – but\, simply put\, this is an opportunity for groups – no matter the size\, faith tradition\, or frequency – to stand in witness to and solidarity with those who are being affected by the “climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement.” US Bishops Special Message on Immigration. \nThis is prayer\, not a protest\, so no signs/posters. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Black History Month with us at our February Fifth Third Community Day\, filled with talks and activities that honor the courage\, resilience and legacy of African Americans in U.S. history. \nHistorians\, researchers\, and living-history experts will share stories from the Revolutionary era\, the Civil War and today’s work to preserve family and community histories. \nIn the morning\, you can hear from Dr. Karen Sutton (The Nickens Nine: African American Patriots of the Revolution)\, Dr. Mark Attucks (First to Defy—First to Die)\, Muriel Roberts (Living History: Reenacting African American Heritage) and Nikki Williams Sebastian (Researching and Preserving African American Family History). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the afternoon\, 2025 Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Dr. Edda Fields-Black will talk about her book Combee: Harriet Tubman\, the Combahee River Raid\, and Black Freedom During the Civil War\, with a book signing to follow. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Community Day is a chance to connect with Black history through learning\, storytelling\, and conversation.
