This celebration happens in early 2020 so now is the time to start planning (if you haven’t already!) \nWorld Interfaith Harmony Week is a week-long celebration that promotes dialogue among people of different traditions to create mutual understanding\, cooperation\, and harmony. \nIn addition to WIHW being a great time to celebrate these aims with like-minded people all around the world\, H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan also offers three cash prizes ($25\,000\, $15\,000 and $5\,000) for events that celebrate the week. \nThe World Interfaith Harmony Week\nAnnual UN Observance Week: Feb. 1-7 \nThe World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed at the UN General Assembly on September 23\, 2010 by H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan. Just under a month later\, on October 20\, 2010\, it was unanimously adopted by the UN and henceforth the first week of February will be observed as a World Interfaith Harmony Week. \nThe World Interfaith Harmony Week is based on the pioneering work of The Common Word initiative. This initiative\, which started in 2007\, called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two common fundamental religious Commandments; Love of God\, and Love of the Neighbour\, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious tenets. The Two commandments are at the heart of the three Monotheistic religions and therefore provide the most solid theological ground possible. \nThe World Interfaith Harmony Week extends the Two Commandments by adding ‘Love of the Good\, and Love of the Neighbour’. This formula includes all people of goodwill. It includes those of other faiths\, and those with no faith. \nThe World Interfaith Harmony Week provides a platform—one week in a year—when all interfaith groups and other groups of goodwill can show the world what a powerful movement they are. The thousands of events organized by these groups often go unnoticed not only by the general public\, but also by other groups themselves. This week will allow for these groups to become aware of each other and strengthen the movement by building ties and avoiding duplicating each others’ efforts.

They are presenting their original picture book biographies to Civil Rights icon Judge Nathaniel Jones and NBA Hall of Fame legend Oscar Robertson. \nChildren’s Theatre of Cincinnati Presents Martin’s Dream\nJanuary 19 – 20\nCincinnati Children’s Theatre\n10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.\nMartin’s Dream explores the real person behind the pictures: a man whose faith\, family and education made him one of the most revered people in our nation’s history. Watch the story of his life unfold — from his childhood in the Deep South all the way to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial\, where he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Tickets are just $13 and can be purchased online\, by calling 1-800-745-3000.  \nCincinnati MLK Coalition King Legacy Breakfast\nJanuary 21\nNational Underground Railroad Freedom Center\n8 a.m.\n400 Years of Enslavement: It Stops With Us. The breakfast features exciting performing arts\npresentations as well as the recipients of the 2019 MLK\, Jr. Dream Awards. Awardees are youth and community leaders who embody the spirit of Dr. King and endeavor to keep his legacy alive. Tickets for the King Legacy Awards Breakfast $40 for adults and $20 for youth. Purchase by calling 513-333-7706. \nLiving His Dream: Celebrating Martin Luther King Day\nJanuary 21\nCincinnati Museum Center\n10 a.m. – 5 p.m.\nCelebrate the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by engaging in interactive programming\, live performances and diverse vendors throughout the day. Ticket prices run from $5 – $14.50 and can be purchased online. All events are free to Cincinnati Museum Center members. \nCincinnati MLK Coalition 44th Annual Commemorative March\nJanuary 21\nNational Underground Railroad Freedom Center\n10:30 a.m.\nHundreds of people will gather outside the Freedom Center’s Harriet Tubman Theater. The march will reach Fountain Square for 11 a.m. for an Interfaith Prayer Service. By 12 p.m. everyone will head to Music Hall for the MLK Commemorative Celebration. The keynote speaker will be Reverend Derek Terry. \nAnnual MLK Day Blood Drive\nJanuary 21\nNational Underground Railroad Freedom Center\n11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.\nHelp save a life. The purpose of this drive it to facilitate blood donation to local Hoxworth facilities on the MLK National Day of Service honoring Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Additionally\, it is to raise awareness of those in need of blood donations throughout the year. All walk-ins accepted\, but you can set up an appointment online or by calling 451-0910.  \nKeep the Dream Alive Award Ceremony\nJanuary 21\nChurch of the Resurrection\n3 p.m. – 5 p.m.\nThis Award Ceremony honors women and men who\, by their lives and life’s work\, carry on the dream the of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. at 3:00 p.m. at Church of the Resurrection 1619 California Avenue Cincinnati\,  Ohio 45237.
