Reducing Single Use Plastics (SUPs)

June 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Green Umbrella’s Faith Communities Go Green Team invites you to a webinar on Reducing Single Use Plastics (SUPs)

DATE: June  29, 2021

TIME: 7:00-8:00pm

DESCRIPTION:

Learn some practical alternatives to using Single Use Plastic (aka SUPs) in your home or faith community.

WHY:

Overuse of plastics harms creation – both the natural world and human health.

We know that the production of plastic through “fracking” and “cracker plants” pollutes the air, water, and land in our region and threatens our health.

We also know that the disposal of plastics contaminates our environment and the beauty of creation.

So what’s an ordinary, conscientious person to do? Of course we can recycle some plastic, and it’s better to recycle plastic when possible than to just throw it in the garbage or litter the ground and water…BUT less than 10% of plastics get recycled.

SOLUTION:

It’s much better to reduce buying and using plastic which decreases the demand for plastic and the amount needing to be recycled.

HOW:

  1. Learn 7 lifestyle changes to reduce your need for plastic products
  2. Learn 10 substitutes for plastic packaging
  3. Learn what plastics can be recycled and what cannot
  4. Educate yourself further and multiply your efforts by becoming involved
    in the July Eco-Challenge!

Register for the free webinar and then join us for the Plastic Free EcoChallenge throughout the month of July!
