Community Conversation: Leadership through a Woman’s Lens

February 20, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Thursday, February 20, 2020 | 6:00PM Reception | 7:00PM Program
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
50 East Freedom Way, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202

The year 2020 marks the centennial of a pinnacle moment in the women’s suffrage movement—the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment. This conversation kicks off a year of suffrage-related programming and seeks to illuminate the struggle and triumph of women in leadership roles. From government, politics, business, higher education, and sports, women are shattering the glass ceiling and seeking to advance equity along the way.

The 116th Congress has the highest percentage of women members in U.S. history at 106 members. This is a reflection of change, revealing that women are making remarkable strides to be represented and be acknowledged as leadership and decision-makers. Yet, representation does not mean access nor does it mean that challenges do not exist.

This meaningful conversation is sponsored by Procter and Gamble and presented in partnership with the Political Science Department at the University of Cincinnati.  Panelists will include:

Dr. Tammy L. Brown, Associate Professor of Global and Intercultural Studies (Black World Studies) at Miami University
Dr. Susan Tinsley Gooden, Interim Dean and Professor of Public Administration and Policy at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University
Dr. Kyra Shahid, Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Xavier University.
Free and open to the public, seating is limited.

Reserve your seat.
